        Let’s talk about another holiday coming up this weekend. Father’s Day! The first Father’s Day was celebrated June 10, 1910. It was founded by Sonora Smart Dodd, who wanted to honor her father, Civil War veteran for the union William Jackson Smart. Dodd’s father was a widower who raised six children on his own. Because of this Dodd thought all men who raised their children deserved a holiday just as important as Mother’s Day. In 1916, Woodrow Wilson unfurled a flag for Father’s Day, after making Mother’s Day a holiday in 1914. It wasn’t until 1972 that President Richard Nixon made Father’s Day an official holiday.
